HONEYMOON – CRUISES ON LAKE VICTORIA WITH GORILLAS, CHIMPANZEES & BIRDS TOUR: 15 Days

This is one of our best safaris, for honeymooners or other travellers wishing to enjoy the comforts and luxuries of a honeymoon type of holiday. This tour combines game, birds, gorillas with the comforts of relaxing in pristine environment on a beach on Lake Victoria at the end of the tour. Visit 4 of Uganda’s 10 National Parks: Murchison Falls, Kibale, Queen Elizabeth, and Bwindi are in the Western arm of the Great East African Rift Valley! Your trip starts with Murchison Falls Conservation Area, the largest in the country, with chimps, birds, crocodile, and game. Visit the dramatic Falls from which the park derives its name. Drive westwards to Lake Albert, for unusual game and wildlife before proceeding to Kibale Forest, home to thirteen species of primates  the highest in tropical Africa. Animal species such as red, black and white colobus, blue monkeys and baboons and a large number of chimpanzees can be seen. Continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park, passing the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains: a half day walk into the mountains is possible. The launch trip along the Kazinga Channel in QE is especially good for viewing hippo, buffalo, elephant and a large host of birds. The beautiful steeply forested Kyambura Gorge nearby, is home not only to chimpanzees but also the red-tailed monkey, black and white colobus and many bird species.  Around Ishasha go on the hunt for the famous tree-climbing lions which lounge nonchalantly on old fig trees. Further south in Bwindi go gorilla tracking and see other primates, birds and butterflies. Have an opportunity to track gorillas again or climb a volcano, go birding or take in the breathtaking landscape. Your trip ends with Ssese Islands in Lake Victoria, to relax and unwind after the eventful African safari.

ITINERARY

Day One: Arrival

Arrival at Entebbe international airport, meet with the driver guide for introduction and transfer to a hotel. O/N Lake Victoria hotel or Boma Guest house in Entebbe/ Pope Paul Hotel or Hotel Africana in Kampala. (BB)

Day Two: Kampala – Source of the Nile

After breakfast, head for the source of the giant river of Africa, the Nile in Jinja via Mukono through Mabira Forest. The journey proceeds across Owen falls dam the legendary hydro electricity generator for Uganda. By boat, view the separation of river Nile from Lake Victoria, here the water you see (Nile) starts its 90days journey to the Mediterranean Sea. Have lunch at Jinja Nile resort hotel and head for Obstinacy of Itanda falls after which you will drive back to Kampala. O/N: Pope Paul hotel or Africana hotel. (HB)

Day Three: Kampala – Murchison Park

Take an early morning drive to Murchison Falls Conservation Area. Drive through Luwero, Nakasongola and branch off to Ziwa Rhino camp. Here you will track rhino in their habitants after over 30yrs extinction in Uganda. Thereafter, proceed to Masindi, Lunch en route, enter into the park and check in at your lodge for an evening. Day Four: Murchison Falls National Game Park

The day starts with a game drive north of the River Nile. Here you will possibly see different bird species, hartebeests, elephants, Cape buffalos, Rothschild’s giraffes, waterbucks, Oribis, bushbucks, bohor reed bucks, hyenas and probably lions. Break for lunch and return for and afternoon launch cruise to the bottom of the spectacular falls as you view fauna in a closer range including hippos and Nile crocodiles. Climb to the top of the falls where you can see the Nile’s perfect gorgeousness, and sensation as it compresses and constrict for over a kilometre wide down through a 7-meter chasm. Day Five: Murchison Falls park Lake Albert

Drive to the stimulating Lake Albert. Arrive in time for lunch, view fishing villages, local communities and local fishermen; or do a short game drive, a launch cruise (subject to boat availability) or simply relax at Lodge. O/N: Lake Albert Lodge (FB).

 Day Six: Lake Albert – Kibale forest national park

Take along drive south to Kibale forest in fort portal via Hoima through local villages astonishing view of tea plantation sceneries enroute to the ‘Mountains of the moon’ region. You will explore nearby craters before going to the lodge for a rest. O/N Nyinabulitya country Resort or Chimpanzee View Guest House or CVK Resort (FB)

Day Seven: Kibale forest and Bigodi

Track the closest brothers of human in kibale forest the highly populated in the region, Kibale is a tropical rain forest with other primates like bush babies, baboons, black-and-white colobus, red-tailed monkey, and several bird species together with trees including the Elephant beer tree, all can be spotted on a nature walk in the forest. Take a lunch break and head to Bigodi for a swamp walk on the trails by the local community. O/N Sunrise Hotel or Chimpanzee View Guest House or CVK Resort (FB).

 Day Eight: Amabere Cave and travel to Queen Elizabeth national Park

Set off in the morning after breakfast to visit the legendary multi-breast cave as you vie crater lakes in the surroundings and depart Fort Portal for Queen Elizabeth National Park. O/N Simba Safari Camp or Mweya safari Lodge (FB).

Day Nine: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Set off in morning for a game drive as you search for fabulous animals of the pearl, visit Katwe and buffaloes can never miss your sight here. Guinea fowls and other bird species, elephants, giraffes, and Kobs in their mating grounds can be viewed as there are chances seeing tree climbing lions on your rummage. After lunch take an afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga channel as you view fauna at a closer range, hippos, other animals and several bird species will be seen as the get water to douse themselves. Day Ten: Queen Elizabeth Park – Bwindi Forest

Quit Kasese for Bwindi, Buhoma or Bwindi South depending on the permits available. O/N Buhoma community camps or Heritage Hotel Kisoro (FB).

Day Eleven: Gorilla Tracking

Track gorillas after breakfast in the morning, this is the climax of the tour gorilla tracking can take 3 -9 hours on walking in the jungle before one returns to his/her accommodation, the jungle, precipitous landscape and rain may make the tour challenging but with a close encounter face-face with the largest primate of Africa is a remarkable experience you will ever have in life. Day Twelve: Bwindi – Lake Buyonyi

Leave Bwindi for Lake Bunyonyi a crater lake in Kabale and the deepest in the East African region. Take a boat cruise on the water to the Island, relax swim and enjoy the amazing view of the crater and the surrounding sceneries. O/N Bunyonyi safari resort or Bunyonyi overland resort (FB).

Day Thirteen:  Bunyonyi – Bukakata

After breakfast take a mild drive to Masaka. You will proceed to Bukakata and board a boat to SSesse Island. O/N: Pope Paul hotel or Africana hotel. (HB)

Day Fourteen:  Ssese, Lake Victoria

After breakfast, relax at lodge or explore local communities, do fishing. O/N: Ssese Palm Beach (FB)

Day Fifteen: Ssese Island- Entebbe

Board the ship at 0800hrs for Entebbe Mainland, arrive at 1100. Transfer to the airport and fly out.
