Facts About Burundi – This area of the Congo Nile, which is covered with the big Kibira Forest among others, has got a pleasant climate that is characterised by ‘soft’ and cool temperature. A mouth-watering tropical scenery is found within the region of the Central plateau and the thousands of surrounding hills, as well as the depressions in the Eastern and North-Eastern part of Burundi. Burundi has many places of interest: from the Capital Bujumbura, to the beautiful landscapes of Lake Tanganika, Ruvubu and Kibira Forest and the ‘Source’ of the Nile at Rutovu. These places boast of antelopes, hares, buffalos, cynocephalus and tropical and wild crocodile.
BURUNDI FROM UGANDA: VBUR10 (14 Days)
Day 1: Arival
Arrive in Uganda at Entebbe airport in Uganda- Meeting with your driver and guide- Transfer to Jinjal (2Hours). Night at Nile Hotel.
Day 2: Nile River- Transfer to Kampala (2 hour Drive)
Day 3: Queen Elizabeth- Equator – (6Hours Drive)
Day 4: Early game drive
Day 5 Canoes ride on lake Bonyonyi- Transfer to Congo DRC
Day 6: Gorilla Tracking Early morning,
Day 7: Nyiragongo Volcano Hiking
Day 8: Back from the Volcano – Rwanda- Intore Dancers
After your picnic breakfast at the top of the volcano, at 7.00am- descend down to kibati village, which may take you 4-5 hours. Your driver will then transfer you to Gisenyi in Rwanda where you will be Entertained by Intore traditional Dancers- Night at Serena Hotel.
Day 9: Transfer to Butare in Rwanda- Kigali Genocide memorial.
After Breakfast- at 7.00am Transfer to Butare via Kigali the capital city of Rwanda where you will enjoy a short city tour and a Visit a the Genocide Memorial to learn and understand what happened in Rwanda in 1994 a year in which 1 million Tutsi were killed within 100 days. After Lunch proceed to Butare- Night at Ibis Hotel.
Day 10: Transfer to Nyungwe
After Break fast Visit the Rwandan Historical Museum which will provide you with a deeper insight into Rwandan history and culture and then begin our journey to Nyungwe Passing through magnificent hills and cultivated countryside – along the way you have the opportunity to see monkeys- arrive in Nyungwe forest- Take Lunch and Relax- Night at Gisakura or Peace Guest house.
Day 11: Early Morning track Chimpanzees in Nyungwe forest
The Nyungwe forest is spectacular and offers dramatic steeply forested landscape and is incredibly dense with numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. Your guided walk in search of the chimps and other primates May last 2 Hours- back from the Forest at Lunch time. After lunch, Enjoy a walk around your Hotel.
Day 12: Transfer to Bujumbura in Burundi
Day 13: Kalera Waterfalls and Burundi National Museum
After an early breakfast– Drive ten kilometers south to visit “la pierre de Stanley et Livingstone” the commemorating stone of the place where the famous explorers Stanley and Livingstone rested during their attempt to find the source of the Nile; After we drive toward the south to visit “Chutes de Kalera” or the spectacular “Kalera Falls”. In the afternoon we travel to Gitega to visit the Burundi National Museum before returning to your hotel for dinner and overnight in Bujumbura. Mid Hotel: Keza. Top: Club du Lac Tanganyika.
Day 14: Depart- Transfer at the airport.
